Welcome La Cosecha 2019 Presenters!
Please review the information below, which includes registration deadlines and information which will assist you during La Cosecha 2019! This year’s La Cosecha program draft will be posted in October.
Presenter Check-in Hours:
Wednesday, November 13th – 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Thursday, November 14th – 7:00 am - 11:30 am
Friday, November 15th – 8:00 am - 10:00 am
Check-in for La Cosecha 2019 will be in the Atrium ini the upper level of the Albuquerque Convention Center. Look for Lead Presenter Check-in signs when you arrive.

Each presentation room is supplied with a screen and LCD projector. All other A/V equipment must be secured and/or and/or rented by the presenter. Information and steps on how to rent that equipment will be posted by September 1. We highly recommend you order needed equipment prior to the conference. Presenters are allowed to bring their own AV equipment but may be charged a patch or hookup fee by the in-house audio-visual supplier (fees do not apply to the use of a LCD Projector). La Cosecha will not be responsible for equipment brought or rented by our presenters.

Copies of handouts are the responsibility of the presenter. Please prepare enough for the maximum room capacity. Room capacities and room set-up will be posted by October 5. Hand-outs will be posted to the conference app. The deadline to email your handouts is October 25, 2019. We do our best to post all handouts, if you send your handout past the deadline we cannot guarantee that they will be posted prior to the conference. Please email them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
What you need to know as a La Cosecha Presenter:
Presenters are responsible for knowing the date, time, room assignment, etc. for presentation.
Note: times/dates are subject to change until the Final Program is posted. Final Conference Program will be posted by October 25, 2019.
Most sessions are 90 minutes, with the exception Special Sessions. Participants appreciate opportunities to interact with the content and to ask questions of the presenter and/or facilitator(s). Please plan accordingly. We ask that you refer to the Dual Language Guiding Principle(s) to which your presentation is aligned. Please be sure to cover the material proposed within the allotted time frame for your session.
Signage, charts and decorations may be taped with painter’s masking tape, but not nailed, tacked or otherwise attached to the meeting surfaces or fixtures like walls, elevators, doors, windows, ceilings, etc.

All accepted Presenters received an email invitation to join us as a presenter for La Cosecha 2019. Once your invitation is accepted, by you, your registration will be processed and you will be invoiced for the registration fee. YOU DO NOT NEED TO REGISTER, it was part of your initial presentation process. There are no further steps to register. The deadline to accept your offer to present is July 12, 2019.
Lead presenters receive a special registration rate of $240.00. Additionally, there are a limited number of complimentary registration scholarships given to lead presenters who do not have a school or institution that can support their participation. If you would like to apply for a registration scholarship, you must complete the online scholarship application. Complimentary registration scholarship applications must be submitted by August 15, 2019. Applications will be reviewed, selected and recipients contacted by September 6, 2019. We are only accepting applications electronically. No scholarships will be awarded after September 1, 2019. All Co-Presenters must register for the conference by September 30, 2019 to receive a discounted registration rate. Note: there is a limit of 2 Co-Presenters per presentation. Any additional presenters must pay regular registration rates.
Tuesday, April 30, 2019 – All proposals must be completed and submitted completely online with registration.
Friday, June 14, 2019 – Selected proposals will receive notification of proposal status via email
Friday, July 12, 2019 – Deadline to Accept/Decline offer to present.
Friday, August 30, 2019 – Program draft posted for review and confirmation (sent via email to accepted presenters).
Friday, September 7, 2019 – Deadline for updates/changes to accepted presentations.
Friday, September 30, 2019 – Deadline for Lead Presenter payment in order to receive special registration rate of $240.00
Friday, September 30, 2019 – Deadline for Co-Presenter(s) registration in order to receive the Co-Presenter registration rate of $380.00.
Tips to strengthen your proposal/session:
Plan for best use of time. All sessions are 90 minutes. Participants appreciate opportunities to interact with the content and to ask questions of the presenter and/or facilitator(s). Please plan accordingly.
Explain how your topic relates to dual language education. Don’t assume the selection committee will clearly understand the connections – explain!
Topics relevant to classroom instruction are highly desirable.
Be as specific as possible regarding the targeted audience (i.e. grade level, position, etc.). Targeted audience=educators who will benefit the most from your session.
Respect the limited space for session title (100 characters/~10 word max) and descriptor (400 characters/~50 word max).
The title and the description must be in the language of the presentation. Note: special consideration given to presentations in non-English program languages.
There are NO juried commercial presentations. Presentations that promote a specific “product” are rarely selected. Commercial presentations slots are limited and reserved exclusively for conference sponsors.
Align your topic with the most appropriate Guiding Principle strand.
Choose the most appropriate Conference Strand(s) your session fits into (Note: there may be more than one appropriate topic strand). This will assist the committee in selecting sessions for the program and assist participants in choosing the sessions they will attend.
Notification will be sent via email (ie. accepted, accepted with changes, or not accepted) by Friday, June 14, 2019.
