School Visits
La Cosecha School Visits for will feature schools located in both Santa Fe and Albuquerque. You will have the opportunity to visit an established dual language school and learn how they are providing quality instruction and learning opportunities.
School visits will begin with a program overview, followed by demonstrations and celebrations, and will conclude with a Q&A with a focus on leadership. Notifications of your exact school assignment and information on your visit will be sent via email the week of October 14th.
NOTE: If you are attending a school visit as part of a group, we cannot guarantee placement for participants at the same location. School visitors will be bussed from the Santa Fe Convention Center to the school sites and busses will begin to leave the convention center as early as 6:30 am on Tuesday, November 10th, please plan accordingly with your travel arrangements.

The following programs will be available for school site visits:
1. K – 5 Elementary Programs: 50/50
K – 5 Elementary Programs: 50/50
a) 50:50 Model: In these programs, students are instructed in Spanish and English utilizing a 50/50 model. Students represent a diverse, multicultural, multilingual community with a strong parent component. The majority of students participate in the free lunch program.
b) 90:10 Model: In these programs, the majority of instruction is delivered in Spanish in the earlier grades. There are both 90:10 and 80:20 program models in this group. The majority of students participate in the Free and Reduced Lunch Program.
2. K – 8 Programs: 50/50
K – 8 Programs: 50/50
a) In these K-8 programs the majority of instruction is delivered in Spanish in the earlier grades, reaching a 50:50 model approach as the students reach the intermediate grades and move into the middle school program. These programs have a culturally and linguistically diverse student population where the majority participate in the Free and Reduced Lunch Program.
3. Indigenous Language Program:
a) The Indigenous Language Program school visit offers participants an opportunity to observe how language and culture are integrated into everyday learning. Visitors will gain insight into how culturally centered education supports student engagement and strengthens connections between school, culture, and place.
4. Middle School Dual Language Programs:
a) These middle school programs are dedicated to diversity, differentiation, teaming, middle-level philosophy, and learning for all. These schools have a dual language bilingual education model that has gained a reputation as some of the best-developed and implemented Spanish-English dual language programs in New Mexico.
5. High School Dual Language Program:
a) These programs function as a strand within the school. Advanced Placement courses are offered in Spanish. Students complete their experience by participating in the Bilingual Seal process recognized by the New Mexico Public Education Department.
6. Pre K (infant, toddler, and two's) Program: 50/50
a) 50:50 Model: In this language program includes: infant, toddler, and two's classrooms. This model includes non-bilingual teachers speaking English while our bilingual teachers communicate in Spanish, allowing children to be exposed to both languages throughout the day.
