La Cosecha Planning Committee Announces 2023 Poster Artist

Michele Trujillo

Honoring Our Story:Reclaiming Our Past Through Empowerment and Action

Michele Trujillo is a Dual Language Kindergarten Teacher in Albuquerque, New Mexico. A child of the military, she moved many times in her childhood before making New Mexico her home. Michele has been in early childhood for 20 years and has been an artist her whole life; she often incorporates art into her lessons, using it to guide her students’ learning. She believes that art allows the freedom to create what isn’t always found easily in real life.  Michele believes in integrating art and culture into her work, one of her favorite pieces  celebrates the love and union of a couple from Philadelphia and Taos Pueblo. Michele, for many years, has also worked with Confirmation Class students from the Congregation B’nai Israel Religious School to create a yearly legacy art project as seen in the submitted photo of a Jerusalem scene she collaborated on with an Albuquerque high schooler. Michele has also been a member of the La Cosecha Planning Committee for several years and we are excited she was selected as this year's artist.
